The Childers-Childers Debate
A Virtual Cross-Time Debate Between Jeff Childers 1996 and Jeff Childers 1998 About the Identity of the New Testament Church
1996 Fifth Rebuttal
(Resolved: The Church founded by Jesus Christ is the so-called Protestant denomination, the Church of Christ, and not the Roman Catholic Church.)
I must admit that passages like 1 Timothy 3:15 present somewhat of a difficulty for the idea of Apostasy and Restoration. Many of my brethren has postulate that there have been true Christians in every age hidden from the texts of history. This may very well be the case, but, lacking any supporting evidence, it is pure conjecture, and would not be very convincing to Catholics. For the time being, I will concede this point to my opponent. However, as I will demonstrate in my next question, despite rather compelling historical evidence, the Roman Catholic Church cannot be the Church of Christ.
