The Childers-Childers Debate

A Virtual Cross-Time Debate Between Jeff Childers 1996 and Jeff Childers 1998 About the Identity of the New Testament Church

1996 Second Question

(Resolved: The Church founded by Jesus Christ is the so-called Protestant denomination, the Church of Christ, and not the Roman Catholic Church.)

There are many groups calling themselves "Churches" today. One such group is the Aaronic Church of White Supremacy. This group worships the white race as superior to all others. Another "Church" is called the Church of Satan, for its members worship the evil one.

The true Church is called the Church of Christ, for it worships Christ (and through him God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit). It belongs only to Christ, and acknowledges only Christ as her Redeemer.

The Roman Catholic Church claims to be the Church of Christ. Yet, she worships the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper. She worships Mary and the various saints, believing that they answer prayers. She has even given Mary the title of Co-Redemptrix, thus making her equal to Christ.

The Roman Catholic Church seems to be the Church of Bread, Wine, Mary, the Saints, and then Christ. How can such an institution with such a pantheon of deities be the Church of Christ?
