The Childers-Childers Debate

A Virtual Cross-Time Debate Between Jeff Childers 1996 and Jeff Childers 1998 About the Identity of the New Testament Church

Utilizing the latest in state of the art World Wide Web Flux Capacitorial technology, Catholicsource is proud to present an event totally unprecedented in all of recorded history. Jeff Childers, a seminarian and convert to the Catholic Church, has traveled through time via the Internet back to 1996, when he was a minister in the Church of Christ. Contacting his past self, the two have agreed to participate in this web debate.

The propositions are as follows:

Resolved: The Church founded by Jesus Christ is the so-called Protestant denomination, the Church of Christ, and not the Roman Catholic Church.

Jeff Childers 1996, Affirms.

Jeff Childers 1998, Denies.

Resolved: The Church founded by Jesus Christ is the Holy Roman Catholic Church, and not the Protestant denomination, the Church of Christ.

Jeff Childers 1998, Affirms.

Jeff Childers 1996, Denies.

Since the two propositions are very much interrelated, they will be discussed simultaneously. An affirmative essay for one proposition is at the same time to be considered a negative essay for the other.

New arguments come out every two weeks or so until the debate is finished.

Debate commenced October, 1998.
